Lecture by Kerry A. Emanuel, Cecil & Ida Green Professor of Atmospheric Science and codirector of the Lorenz Center, Massachusetts Institute of Technology
 
Tropical cyclones (a.k.a. hurricanes) are a leading cause of mortality and damage among all natural hazards. This lecture will review the latest research on these fascinating storms, explain why their destructiveness is expected to increase, and discuss ways of dealing with the increasing risk.
