Molecular Biochemistry of Deep-Sea Animals

• Are you interested in pursuing a PhD?
• Do you have interest in biochemistry and physiology?
• Would you like to learn programming and data analysis?
• Want to work with deep-sea gelatinous animals like ctenophores?

Graduate school opportunity using transcriptomics to investigate evolution of physiological capabilities in the deep-sea.

Skills that you will be expected to acquire and apply include:
• Molecular lab techniques: sequencing, RNA extraction, cloning and expression
• Computational techniques: Transcriptome analysis using Python, R, and the Unix shell
• Field work: Spending time at sea and performing research SCUBA diving
(Previous experience in all three not required.)
